How To Text Encode with TextEdit
Steps
- With your document open in TextEdit, ensure that your accents are visible and appear intact.
- Choose Format > Make Plain Text.
- Choose Save As... from the file menu;
- In the dialog box presented name your document appopriately including the extension .txt;
- In the drop down menu for Plain Text Encoding choose the Unicode (UTF-8) option;
- Click Save.
