Strategic Web intelligence interface Technologies - SWiiT

The convergence of high-speed data networks and the move to a single, universal Internet Protocol (IP) platform for data has made massive, unprecedented flows of information universally and instantly accessible. High-speed, high-capacity networks have also accelerated the change and exchange of information.

In this expanding universe of data, how does business target, locate and exploit strategic information at the right time both rapidly and securely to create competitive advantage?

The answer is SWiiT, or Strategic Web Intelligence Interface Technologies. Developed by a team of researchers at Ontario’s McMaster University, SWiiT is a new kind of knowledge mining portal that provides a smart, real-time portal designed specifically for strategic communications research.

The Strategic Web Intelligence Interface Technologies will help you:

• TARGET and LOCATE the right information where you need it, when you need it

• TRACK that information in real-time as it evolves

• MANAGE your information in streams to align your findings to your business priorities

• ANALYZE your streams using text analysis and mining technologies

Search engine's find too much. SWiiT helps you extract useful knowledge from the web. Knowledge-discovery is the Internet’s next frontier. As network speeds and the volume of data multiply, fast, strategic knowledge will demand a smart, responsive and effective interface to web intelligence. The alternative is getting lost in the rising tide of data confronting every business.

Researchers at McMaster have developed an innovative Text Analysis Portal for Research (portal.tapor.ca). This portal was originally aimed at academic researchers studying electronic texts across disciplines. Now, SWiiT is expanding its uses and functionality to serve the strategic intelligence market.

SWiiT is looking for partners. Strong participation of industry is one of our goals as we go forward; for this reason the SWiiT Initiative is looking for partners to help us imagine how technology can help and to bring our technology to market. We are looking for partners interested in:

• COLLABORATION. We’d like you to collaborate with us to model how such technologies could be used in the real world of strategic web intelligence. We are especially looking for partners interested in road-testing SWiiT’s innovative new tools and fresh approaches to web research..

• EXPANSION. Working with us to expand our web service model so that text mining technologies can be plugged into SWiiT.

• DEVELOPMENT. We are looking for technology partners interested in developing the SWiiT suite.

• CUSTOMIZATION. One of the greatest features of the Internet is that it’s scalable – it can be made to custom-fit what you want it to do. One of our challenges will be designing tools that are accessible to communications specialists and capable of being localized.

The SWiiT initiative represents the fusion know-how and need that’s at the next frontier of the Internet. Our ultimate goal: a service that’s useful and ready to bring to market. That’s the SWiiT advantage.
