May 24th Meeting

  • Graeme will populate the links page.
  • Postpone code changes until we have a new code system that uses templates
  • We have entered 33 coins of 150. Photography will happen next week. After that we can redo the original 150.

Code Redevelopment

  • It is important that a code redesign not prevent us from the key deliverables
  • Harold will develop a new code base that allows us to modify the code better, modify the designs easier, and so on
  • We will back up the old system and then test the new with the existing
  • We will enter coins in the existing system for now.

Design

Process

  1. We develop a list of desired features.
  2. We create 2-3 wireframes of 2-3 major pages. We will need wireframes of the following
    • Home page (introduction)
    • Search
    • Results
    • Tour wireframe or Glossary
    • Timeline (optional)
  3. We discuss these and settle on a layout/wireframe design
  4. Then we develop a couple of different graphic designs using different images/fonts
  5. We discuss these and settle on a final one

Desires

  • Flat hiearchy
  • Signature banner that is suitable and extendable
  • Infomation at the bottom
  • Faceted browsing - there would be a "Browse" button where someone could browse the coins using facets like the Blacklight UVA site. See http://aleph.lib.virginia.edu/blacklight/
  • Purse idea - by session - ability to save a purse and then upload it. Thus a teacher could save a purse and upload it.

Tours

  • We need some examples - Graeme will find some examples
  • Some ideas
    • Chronology of the Republic with events and coins
    • People
    • The six week emperor
    • Wacky emperors
    • Roma herself
    • Chariots and boats
    • Janus and other gods
    • How coins were made*

Contracts

  • Harold and Gaeme will work with new language from Gerrie and Michele to finalize.
