T-REX Submission Details
General Information
All submissions need to have the following information:
- Your full name
- Your affiliation
- A URL for you or your organization, if available
- Your e-mail address (this should match the address in your TAPoR account.)
- What category the submission is in
Category-Specific Information
Depending on what category you are submitting for you should provide different information.
Best New Tool
If you are submitting a Web Service or REST tool you should get a developers account on the
TAPoR portal and register the tool. Then, send us an email with the following information.
- Name of the tool
- Discussion of the tool including any background information that will help us understand it
- Link to documentation, if available
- Explanation of research uses for the tool
- Any appropriate references or links
Ideas for Tools
If you are submitting an idea for a tool you should look at the
TAPoRware tools for examples. Tool ideas should be capable of being implemented as web-based tools like
TAPoRware, though more complex tool ideas will be considered. Please include the following in your submmission email:
- Name for the tool
- Discussion of what sort of input the tools operates on. We assume it will be on a text available online or uploaded.
- Description of what the results would look like
- Pseudo code description of what the tool would do to the input in steps
- Explanation of the research uses for such a tool
- Any appropriate references or links
Interface Improvement or Feature
If you are submitting an idea for how the
TAPoR portal can be improved we need information that helps us identify where it applies and what it would do, including:
- Location in the portal (window or portlet) where the improvement applies
- Description of the improvement or new feature. Be specific. Provide graphic designs if appropriate.
- Description of what the feature would do if implemented
Tool Feature
If you are submitting an idea for a feature or fix for a tool registered on
TAPoR you need to provide the following:
- Name of the tool to which this idea applies
- Description of the feature or fix. Be specific and provide illustrations if appropriate.
- Description of what the feature would do if implemented
- Explanation of the uses of the improvement or feature. Why is it needed?
- Any appropriate references or links

T-REX will post all submissions that are reasonable. If you don't want your personal information posted please say so in your submission.
